Stage V. , NRMM Fase IIIA, IMO TIER III, Natura 2000 or a specific clients’ wish; as rules and regulations are becoming more stringent, the importance of in limiting harmful emissions is becoming greater by the day. Not only does this count for the global energy and industry sectors, but also for the commercial shipping industry (inland and sea going). As a well-known brand in exhaust technology Discom is familiar with this theme and its challenges for many decades. Next to our acoustic expertise this has become one of our core competences.

Emission reduction in the maritime industry
In 2016 we have been one of the pioneers with the design of an aftermarket exhaust system which was capable of bringing new and existing Caterpillar 3512 engines to the, than new, EU stage 5 norm. A system which we have developed further over time. At this point the system is now suitable to be used within the dimensions of an existing exhaust gas system. Even when space is limited, we are able to adjust the system in such a way that it will fit in your engine room..
Emission reduction for generators
For generators we have developed our Discom Modular Emission Skids (DMES). A system which helps users to meet StageV (or more stringent demands) in a blink of an eye, by skid or overhead frame. A DMES is able to be equipped with additional attenuation, integrated spark arrestor, on demand special coating and many more. This way we are able to provide a perfect custom fit solution for every challenge.
Emission reduction for rail
Welded products for locomotives and other rail cars have to meet the stringent NEN-EN 15085-norm. Discom has been certified accordingly for over 20 years. During this period we are delivering silencers to the highest possible standard. As more and more companies nowadays turn towards sustainability in their mission and vision as well as a healthy environment for their employees we often get the request to equip the existing silencer with a soot filter. As Discom we know the makes and models of locomotives, the power units and the exhaust gas systems as no other. We use this knowledge to design a solution with an integrated soot filter which fits perfectly in to the existing system.
Natura 2000 | Discom achieves extremely high NOx-reduction without ammonia
There are over 162 Natura 2000-areas appointed, just in The Netherlands alone. That is almost 15% of all of its boundaries. And to be fair, still The Netherlands is way under the set mark of the EU. Within Europe 18,7% of all landmass is appointed as Nature 2000 area. The demands within these areas stretch further than any normal legislation. Predominately on NOx levels. With a exhaust gas limitation system of Discom you are able to reduce your pollution of NOx with 90-95%. Big advantage of the smart Discom design is that you will achieve that level without emitting ammonia.
